The character of Caernarfon
The old town sits within its walls much as Conwy does, with narrow streets around the castle square that suit a saloon rather than anything larger. The harbour and Victoria Dock offer easier waiting space just outside the walls. Cars generally hold near the dock or the Slate Quay car park rather than attempting the streets inside the walls themselves.
- Streets inside the town walls are narrow — cars hold near the dock or Slate Quay.
- Caernarfon has no mainline station; we handle the connecting leg from Bangor.
- The A499 narrows to single carriageway soon after leaving town toward the Llyn.
- Castle square gets genuinely busy in summer, which we allow for in the timing.
