The character of Ascot
Ascot High Street and the roads immediately around the racecourse are narrow and heavily managed on race days, with the High Street itself closed to general traffic during Royal Ascot week and resident-only access enforced on the surrounding streets. Away from race days the town is easy: wide roads, generous verges, and Windsor Great Park providing a genuinely pleasant approach from the north.
- During Royal Ascot week the High Street closes and cars meet at an agreed point outside the closure.
- Enclosure drop-offs are timed against the specific gate you hold tickets for, confirmed in advance.
- On non-race days the car waits close to the High Street with no special restriction.
- Windsor Great Park approach roads are the calmest way in from the north on any day.
