The character of Southport
Lord Street, with its glass canopies and gardens, is attractive but busy with pedestrians and buses, so cars generally wait on a side street rather than directly outside. The seafront and Marine Lake area have their own car parks, useful for a longer wait. Royal Birkdale, on the southern edge of town, has clear access from the coast road but fills quickly during a major tournament.
- Cars generally wait on a side street off Lord Street rather than outside the shops.
- The seafront and Marine Lake area have dedicated car parking.
- Royal Birkdale fills quickly during a major tournament.
- Summer weekends bring genuine congestion along the coast road.
